The first teaser for Truth & Treason first appeared on several websites on the world wide web in 2007, and was an intriguing 1 minute 39 second documentary style trailer that was put together from footage and interviews shot originally for Truth and Conviction , director Matt Whitaker's 2002 documentary on Helmuth Hübener.

This teaser trailer featured 3 important people . The first was Otto Bernt Jr., giving a fascinating account of his memories of Hitler, at one stage mimicking Hitler's spine chilling way of public rhetoric. Otto Bernt Jr. was a close friend of Helmuth Hübener , Karl-Heinz Schnibbe & Rudi Wobbe. They attended the same church congregation.

The second person featured was Dr Alan Keele,a Brigham Young University professor and the co-author with Karl-Heinz Schnibbe of When Truth Was Treason: German Youth against Hitler: The Story of the Helmuth Hübener, which is the definitive account of the Hübener Group.

Perhaps most fascinatingly, the third person featured was none other than Karl-Heinz Schnibbe, the last surviving member of the three friends who dared to oppose Hitler and his Third Reich .

The trailer also featured a black and white picture which many fans mistook as a still of Haley Joel Osment in costume as Helmuth. However, this was a black and white still of Helmuth Hübener himself. At no time in the first teaser trailer was Haley's name mentioned, but the resemblence of Haley Joel Osment to Helmuth Hübener was truly remarkable.

This early trailer ended with the following message which left fans excited and intriqued, but it would not be for another year before a more exciting second trailer would be released to huge buzz on the internet.
